Description
The sun was up and bright, even at 7:30 a.m., but on the mountain path, with its towering trees, the path was shielded - except where there was a break in the canopy, like where the sun shone its spotlight on this Mountain Laurel, just beginning to bloom.
The Mountain Laurel is most known for its reproductive methods, in which it creates tension on its stamens and flings its pollen onto insects. It is possible for the Mountain Laurel to release pollen in a range of up to six inches. Though beautiful, Mountain Laurel is highly toxic to both humans and animals, when ingested.
